National Oil Corporation of Kenya Limited (NOC) is a wholly owned (100%) State Corporation incorporated in April 1981 under the Companies Act, Cap 486 of the Laws of Kenya (now repealed and replaced by Companies Act No. 17 of 2015) to represent the Government’s commercial interests in the oil and gas sector.
On the 8th of August 2023, the Cabinet considered and approved the restructuring of NOC by converting the current Corporation to a Holding Company and creating 3 subsidiaries for NOC Upstream, NOC Downstream, and NOC Trading Operations.
This revival and commercialization of NOC will result in several benefits such as specialization and diversification of operations, enhanced efficiency, improved access to capital, enhanced risk management, and internationalization. A revived and strengthened NOC will create jobs, reduce the cost of living, enhance oil and gas security, expand the Government revenue base, and strengthen forex.
