  1. Will NOC allow youth or individuals who want to trade outside the groups to buy cylinders as individuals?

NOC would like to deal with women groups and youth groups for better impact. In case the involvement of the youth group or women group is not adequate NOC may consider individuals

  1. How much would be the margin per Kg for the investor?

Kshs.15 per Kg at the retail /cage level,Kshs.15 per Kg at the container/distributor level.

  1. When did the project start?

A pilot test was conducted in Kajiado North sub county and Machakos County.

  1. Who will bear the transport cost to the cages?

Already factored in the margin per Kg for every level. Where possible the delivery truck shall deliver to the cages to minimize the charnel transport cost.

  1. How many distributors are required?

One per sub county.

  1. Who will take care of faulty cylinders?

NOC will undertake to validate cylinders and do repairs as and when required.

  1. What happens when I want to stop being a distributor?

Contact the sales rep who will liaise with the next person in the business to take them over.

  1. How many retailers are required?

    This depend on the number of cylinders available in each county. The idea is to bring the cylinders very close to the consumers. 

  1. How much money do I need to invest in a container?

This depends on the number of the cylinders in that container. It will be a factor of the amount payable per cylinder times the number of cylinders

  1. For how long will the project run?

For the next 3 years.

  1. How much would be the margin per cylinder for every level of investment?

    • 90 per cylinder at the retail level.
    • 90 per cylinder at the container / Distributor level

  2. What is the date the booklets will be expected to reach the Chiefs

As per the roll out program

  1. Should the cylinders run out, what plans does NOC have for those who will miss out yet interested & eligible

They will be considered in the subsequent roll outs.

  1. What will be the refill cost?

Current Cost of a 6kg LPG

  1. Who is eligible to benefit from Gas Yetu?

any persons with a national identification card.

  1. Quantity allocated to the sub-county by each locations

  1. When does one make the payment?

upon successful request, but one can accumulate small amounts over time on the platform.

  1. Availability of Gas Yetu for refill?

Gas refills will be available at different retailer outlets.

  1. Where will the retailers be in place?

Retailers will be distributed in the locations for customer convenience.

  1. How many gas cylinders can the Mwananchi buy?

Each individual can only buy one gas cylinder

  1. Can I change the Gas Yetu cylinder with any other cylinder already in the market?

No

  1. How much will the Gas Yetu (complete) cost?

Kshs. 2,000

  1. What is the total cost to become a distributor or reseller?

The total cost depends on the number of gas cylinders involved.

  1. When is the project expected to commence/ start?

The project pilot started on 15th July and roll out will be done county by county.

  1. Some counties are big. Eg. Kajiado should the distributors be more than one in within sub counties?

depending on the size of the sub-counties and population NOC will consider the number of distributors needed.

  1. Launch date?

To be communicated

  1. How soon does the business go to the mwananchi?

As soon as the roll out gets to their relevant county.

  1. Will there be any form of communication to support the new product in the market?

There will be contact accounts for Gas Yetu.

  1. Will there be safety training for all citizens?

There will be safety training for Mwananchi as the roll out continues as well as tutorials and safety information in the relevant Gas Yetu social accounts.

  1. What are the channels of payment that will be used?

  2. Will the cylinders be exchanged with the SUPA-Gas cylinder?

The government cylinder will only exchange for government cylinder. Not any other.
